What is a fake name generator?
A fake name generator creates realistic but fictional people: a first and last name that fit a country, with optional age, username, email, phone number, street address and company. Developers use it to fill test databases and forms, designers to populate mock-ups, teachers for role-play, and writers for background characters.
Magic Random's generator keeps the data safe as well as realistic: email addresses use the reserved example.com domain and phone numbers use ranges set aside for fiction, so nothing can reach a real person. Generate one profile or a hundred, then copy for Excel or download a CSV.

Frequently asked questions
What is a fake name generator used for?
Mostly for test data and placeholders: filling a sign-up form while testing a website, populating a demo database, mocking up a design with realistic-looking users, writing sample rows for a spreadsheet, or naming characters. Every person generated here is fictional.
Are the email addresses and phone numbers safe to use in tests?
Yes, by design. Emails use example.com, example.org and example.net, domains reserved by internet standards so they can never belong to anyone. US phone numbers use the 555-01XX range reserved for fiction, UK numbers use the 07700 900XXX range Ofcom sets aside for drama, and Indian numbers use a placeholder pattern. Nothing you generate can reach a real person.
Can I choose male or female names?
Yes. Pick Female, Male or Any. First names come from current popular-name lists for each country, mixed with classic names so results look like a real population rather than only newborns.
Which countries are supported?
United States, United Kingdom and India, each with matching first names, surnames, street styles, cities, postal codes and phone formats. More countries are planned.
Can I generate 50 or 100 random names for Excel?
Yes. Choose 50 or 100 (or any number up to 100), then use Copy for Excel, which pastes as columns, or Download CSV. Copy JSON is there for developers.
Are the addresses real?
No. Street names and cities are real-sounding and the postal code prefix matches the city, but the house number and the rest of the code are random, so the full address is not expected to exist. Don't use generated addresses for deliveries or official forms.
Does this create fake identities for signing up to services?
That's not what it's for. Using a fabricated identity to open accounts, deceive a business or impersonate someone can be fraud. The tool exists for software testing, design mock-ups, writing and classroom use.
Can I get a fake company name too?
Yes. Tick Company to add an invented business name such as “Summit Logic LLC” to each person, handy for CRM demos and invoice templates.
Will the same name come up twice?
Not within one batch; the tool removes duplicates. Across separate batches repeats are possible but rare.
Is the fake name generator free and private?
Yes. No signup, no limits, and everything runs in your browser; nothing you generate is stored or sent anywhere.
